New Year’s Blessings: Looking Back and Looking Forward

Make a year-end tax-deductible donation by midnight December 31 and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar.

This year has been one of tremendous blessing for all of us here at the St. Paul Center, and I know I speak for the entire St. Paul Center team when I say we count your friendship and support among our greatest gifts this year.

Throughout his epistles, St. Paul gives thanks to God for all those who helped him spread the Gospel. And like St. Paul, I give thanks to God for you. Because of you and your generosity, as Paul says in 2 Corinthians, men will give glory to God.

And through your generosity, we truly help people give glory to God. In this year alone, we’ve helped revitalize the priesthood, educate and inspire the laity, form seminarians, and teach upcoming scholars.

Our Priest Conference in July drew over 200 priests from thirty-five states and eight countries. Afterwards, one priest said to me, “Scott, this conference was the best week of my priesthood, and I know others feel the same.” This gives you but a glimpse of the real and powerful impact our annual priest conferences have on the lives of our spiritual fathers.

To ensure that we’re reaching as many priests as possible, in January we’ll be hosting our first West Coast Priest Conference in La Jolla, California. And thanks to the generosity of one donor, we’ve dropped the cost of registration by half.

Your support has also made it possible for us to film our newest Journey Through Scripture study, Genesis to Jesus. This study will teach Catholics to understand Scripture using the tools that have been provided for us by the Church’s bountiful tradition, and it will make God’s plan for our salvation more evident than ever.

So far, over 1.2 million people have watched The Bible and the Virgin Mary and The Bible and the Sacraments. One of our Bible study leaders in Columbia shared with us that over 8,000 people have participated in our studies in Cali alone. Stories like this lead me to hope that, with the help of our studies, Catholics around the world are growing in biblical literacy.

Your generosity has helped us support more theologians, more scholars, and more seminarians. One way is through our St. Paul Center Verbum Libraries. With just the click of a button, Verbum gives priests and seminarians invaluable research tools for homily prep—not to mention personal prayer and study.

It’s hard to believe that we’ve accomplished all this in the past year alone—and there’s so much on the horizon.

Because there’s still so much to be done, I want to invite you to consider a year-end gift. Your gift will make a huge difference in enabling us to grow our outreach next year.

Even more exciting, thanks to a generous supporter, your year-end gift will have twice the impact. Donate today and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar. If you are considering making a gift to the St. Paul Center, I ask that you make your most generous contribution by year’s end. Your kindness will be multiplied beyond any amount we can measure.

So again, I say thank you. Your continued support is a gift not only to the St. Paul Center, but to the whole Church. We are so grateful to God for friends like you.

May Almighty God bless you in the coming year and beyond.
