Professor Tim Gray examines the parallels between Scriptural passages about Mary in the New Testament and the ark of the covenant in the Old Testament, particularly the narrative of King David dancing before the ark. Like the ark, Mary holds the presence of God and carries Him to all people, which naturally gives her a prominent place in the life of the Church. Finally, Gray examines the roles the ark of the covenant had in war and as God’s “mercy seat” and shows how Mary fulfills both capacities as the Ark of the New Covenant.
