This book is bedtime reading for my 5th and 2nd grader. They learn not just how each saint became a saint, but Father Morrow defines many Catholic words in footnotes which is quite useful. It makes the reading interactive, because I ask the children if they know what a certain idea or word means, while having the answer in front of me, in case neither of us can put the definition into words. The stories are concise and dense, with interesting details, not just an overall picture of each saint, as so many uninteresting books about the saints have. It is written for kids, but as a parent, I learned new things too. Regarding this book so highly, I bought extras to give to friends with children. Gives a realistic presentation of the saints, showing their earlier faults or weaknesses, which they eventually overcame through prayer, sacrifice, and God’s grace.
