Analyzing a variety of passages in both the Old and New Testaments, Professor Edward Sri shows us the biblical basis for honoring Mary as our Queen. The gebirah, or queen mother, possessed the most powerful position in the Davidic kingdom after the king himself and Mary, as the Mother of God, fulfills this role in Christ’s kingdom. Finally, Sri points out that the Old Testament tradition of the queen mother leads us to honor Mary as our Queen, as well as to seek her intercession, since she possesses the most prominent place in the Kingdom of God after Christ Himself.
