"Fire goes before him." —Psalm 97:3
St. John the Baptist, the towering biblical figure, has been called the forerunner, the last and greatest of prophets, and the greatest "among those born of women" (Matt 11:11). Now, Fr. Sean Davidson points to another worthy title for the cousin of Christ: Prophet of Fire.
In this compelling meditation on St. John the Baptist, Fr. Davidson beautifully narrates the story of John's life, mission, and death as it is presented in the New Testament. This immersion into the Gospels offers timely insights for Christians in every age, but most especially our own.
Draw wisdom from John's witness of courage: his fidelity to truth under pressure, his commitment to Christ, and his focus on leading others to the Lamb of God.
Prophet of Fire prepares readers to love the Lord as did John the Baptist, and to find in Scripture the path that John followed. It is this path of adoration and sacrifice that leads to the Lamb of God—our Eucharistic Lord.
