What Replaces Christianity in a “Post-Christian World”?

We often hear expressions like “the post-Christian era” to describe the time in which we live. It is not a bad phrase provided we realize that every step in rejecting a Christian teaching keeps that very teaching before our eyes. Just as Christianity preserved many pagan practices, a “post-Christian era” will retain many Christian customs and ideas without acknowledging their Christian origins.

From January 7–10, 2019, we held our first West Coast Priest Conference in La Jolla, CA, at the beautiful Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. There is a particular version of natural moral law theory known as “New Natural Law”: it understands morality as a matter of living in accord with basic human goods and not acting in such a way as to violate those goods.
