About the course
Prayer is at the heart of the Christian life. Given that we are weak and even sinful human beings, how can it be that God has anything to do with us? What does it mean to have a personal relationship with God? Why is God so silent and hidden? How do we grow in prayer? This course is a companion to the book of the same name, Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love, which Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB, co-wrote with his confrère, Fr. Thomas Acklin, OSB, both of St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA. From practical steps of contemplation to a focus on personal liturgical prayer, this course offers an amazing insight into Christian prayer.
About the presenter
Fr. Boniface Hicks, OSB is a Benedictine monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA. Since his ordination to the priesthood in 2004, he has provided spiritual direction for many men and women, including married couples, seminarians, consecrated religious, and priests—even as he completed his Doctorate in computer science at Penn State University. He is the programming manager and an on-air contributor for We Are One Body Catholic radio, and he has recorded thousands of radio programs on theology and the spiritual life. He has extensive experience as a retreat master for laity, consecrated religious, and priests.
