About the course
This course is a study of the sacramental system, based upon the book, Touched by Christ: The Sacramental Economy, based on Scripture, tradition, and Magisterium. The course begins with a study of the fittingÂness and nature of the sacramental economy and the seven sacraments instituted by Christ for sanctifying human beings.
Theologians distinguish three levels of the sacraments: the outward sacramental sign, an intermediate level called “reality and sign,” which refers to sacramental character and the Real Presence of Christ’s Body and Blood in the Eucharist. The third level is the reality of grace communicated by the sacraments.
About the presenter
Dr. Lawrence Feingold is a Professor of Theology at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis. He converted to Catholicism in 1989 together with his wife while engaged in realist marble sculpture in Pietrasanta, Italy. He is the author of  Touched by Christ: The Sacramental Economy (2021); The Eucharist: Mystery of Presence, Sacrifice, and Communion (2018); Faith Comes from What Is Heard: An Introduction to Fundamental Theology (2016); and The Natural Desire to See God according to St. Thomas Aquinas and His Interpreters (2010).
