About the course
This course explores the fittingness and purpose of the Eucharist, highlighting its three fundamental aspects: presence, sacrifice, and communion. Beginning with an examination of biblical sources and writings of the Church Fathers, the course delves into the Real Presence and the controversy surrounding it, followed by an exploration of the sacrificial dimension of the Mass and the roles of the ministerial and common priesthood. The final lessons focus on the effects of Holy Communion, the importance of disposition in receiving these effects, Eucharistic adoration, and the development of a Eucharistic spirituality.
About the presenter
Dr. Lawrence Feingold is a Professor of Theology at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis. He converted to Catholicism in 1989 together with his wife while engaged in realist marble sculpture in Pietrasanta, Italy. He is the author of  Touched by Christ: The Sacramental Economy (2021); The Eucharist: Mystery of Presence, Sacrifice, and Communion (2018); Faith Comes from What Is Heard: An Introduction to Fundamental Theology (2016); and The Natural Desire to See God according to St. Thomas Aquinas and His Interpreters (2010).
